England’s manager situation

After Capello resigned from the England job yesterday, just compiling all the tweets and articles that are worth reading.

Paul Tomkins on twitter:

Via @InfostradaLive: Winning percentage last 5 England managers: Hoddle 61%, Keegan 39%, Eriksson 60%, McClaren 50%, Capello 67%

England manager’s task should be: 1) Qualify, 2) Get out of the group stages 3) Anything else a bonus. Eriksson and Capello both achieved 1 & 2 every single time. Last English boss did neither. One before only achieved point 1

England usually about the 10th best side in the world. Newcastle/Villa always win cups, don’t they?

What Capello had to say, via @DanKennett

What really hit me & forced me to take this decision was the fact the much-vaunted Anglo-Saxon sense of justice, as they are the first to claim that everyone is innocent until proven guilty. In Terry’s case they gravely offended me & damaged my authority at the head of the England side

Very interesting look at Liverpool’s formations and a comparison of results while playing set-ups that fit under the umbrella of 4-4-2 or 4-3-3. By

Haven’t had a chance to read this completely yet, but skimmed over it. A comparison of managers. It first looks at the relationship between players’ wages and team success, then by using different methods attempts to find Football’s best managers. By Simon Kuper

Really good one from Paul Tomkins, free on his site. Involves current issues following the Suarez-Evra case and the media’s portrayal of our fans and all that surrounds the club.

In that article, he links to two EXCELLENT articles: “Media on Racism: Part 1 – Churnalism” and “Media on Racism: Part 2 – Framing”. MUST READ.

Plus another one, this time by Jim Boardman, “Maybe that anger isn’t a lack of respect”.
